Every other top in this batch is pieced square; this one runs on the bias. A panel of dark, striped rosewood crosses the curly maple at an angle, corner to corner — a half-square triangle in hardwood. The maple underneath flashes gold where the light hits the curl.
Like every clapper on this bench, it’s built in two layers: a hard maple base under the figured top, weighted so the mass — not your arm — sets the seam while it cools. Sanded to 320 grit, edges eased so they never mark fabric, sole left bare to drink the steam. You’re buying this exact clapper — the photos are the piece.
