Details
The curl in this chestnut runs straight across the board, so the center catches light in moving bands — tip it and the stripes swim. The walnut burl on the ends is the quiet counterweight, all swirl and no shine.
Like every clapper on this bench, it’s built in two layers: a cherry base under the figured top, weighted so the mass — not your arm — sets the seam while it cools. Sanded to 320 grit, edges eased so they never mark fabric, sole left bare to drink the steam. You’re buying this exact clapper — the photos are the piece.
